A Former Minister of St John's URC, Bexhill (1975-1992)

We are sad to announce that Rev Garwood passed away with a heart attack. Rev Colin Garwood was ordained at Staines, Middlesex on June 21, 1952 and later ministered at Southend, in Essex, and then at St. John's, Bexhill. He retired to Fakenham in 1992 and moved to Wells-next-the-Sea in 2006. Until just a few years ago he made an annual visit to Bexhill to meet up with his former congregation and friends. Whilst ministering in Bexhill for many years he was the conductor of the summer Sunday evening hymn singing throughout the months of July and August and in the 1980s conducted the hymn singing for Songs of Praise that was televised from the seafront.

He led a service for us on 30 Aug 2020 through audio while still in the lockdown. You can listen to the service he led by clicking down the button below.

“Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful."

Joshua 1:7-8
